Hi CGN, about half a year ago I bought a .22 at an auction and have no idea what it is. Its shoots very nice I quite like it but there are nor maker marks on it at all except it says not english make. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was thinking savage because of the safety but no where on the rifle does it say savage. I took it completely apart and not a single maker mark.

Any indication on the but pad or possible under the but pad.
Have you taken the stock off?
I know there is someone on here that will help with the proof marks.

I have taken the stock off and nothing, I just removed the but pad and no name under there. The inside of the but pad had the numbers 25 on top of 16653 if that helps.

Looks like a Savage Model 5. The "NOT ENGLISH MAKE" stamp was due to English import/export regulations. Any gun retailed in Britain was also required to go through the proof house, which is why it has Birmingham proof marks on it. The "P-H" on the right side may indicate it was retailed by Parker Hale.

Nice little gun. I'm jealous.

Thank you very much, that really gives me a lot of information for this little .22! It’s neat to know this little rifle has been on quite a journey in its lifetime. Thank you all again so much!

That was my thoughts also on that. Sold in England.
