In the back of my safe I found an old metal tin marked 5.56x45, 800 rounds. It looks the same as the metal sardine tins CanadaAmmo is bringing into Canada right now from Norinco. The tin is also marked: CJ-5-3.

I would like to know if anyone else picked up this type of ammunition. I must have picked it up at a gun show back in 2001. I'm not sure if it's corrosive or non-corrosive. Any opinions?

Thanks.

Don't think so. There might be old corrosive .223, but I believe the 5.56 has always been non-corrosive.

Big thanks guys. Someone offered me a tin of the stuff and I always assumed it was corrosive and just forgot about it. I'll crack it open and let you know if there are any primer markings.
