Mystery cartridge

At least to me! Caliper battery is dead so I am using a ruler. OAL 2.290”, brass 1.876”, rim .619”, bullet diameter .446”. No markings on the brass anywhere.
Looks to be Berdan primed. Dave

I don’t have my book handy to check dimensions at the moment but I’d say 45-75 Winchester would be pretty close.

Case looks like 43 Spanish? O/A length is shorter but maybe a different/damaged bullet?

Thanks guys. Bullet is a flat nose not round nose. If it was a Winchester cartridge would it be a Berdan primer? Dave

.41 Veterrli? The Italians had them as a centerfire many sporterized SWISS ones were converted from rimfire to center. could be an 8mm Lebel ??

Italian Vetterli would be my guess. I made up a few cases for a fellow and they look like that. Measurements are close.

The Vet cases are either 38mm or 42mm, but it really looks like a 11×59mmR Gras or 8mm Lebel round. Sorry my caliper battery needs replacement . the bullet thats ready to go is the GRAS the other was its replacement the 8mm Lebel.
