Can anyone tell me what this is from?

No idea, but going by the size, something that sits on a tripod

How large (or small) is it? There is no sense of scale. It looks vaguely like an early M1928 Thompson rear sight, but being 8mm, is probably off something like an 8mm Vickers.

+1 - would have to agree with wheaty. Looks like a top cover for a 1919.

All I have is the picture - and it's not a quiz, I don't know.

My best guess was a Swedish KSP-36 or M1919 in 8x63.

Having surfed up some pics of Israeli 1919 top covers, I'm leaning toward saying Wheaty is correct
