Found some pistol ammo loaded with EX PD Can't find any information on this powder. Anyone know it's burn rate? That's if anyone else is aware of it. Thanks.

Are these reloaded cartridges or commercial, if the former I would be very hesitant in using rounds reloaded without my direct input.

If the bullets are factory loads or reloaded by a commercial company, there should also be a manufacturer printed on the box and are likely just fine to shoot.

What you need to be careful with is some pistol ammo is loaded for rifles and can be to stout in some pistols. Usually the factory ammo indicates this.

If it's just a batch of reloads done by an individual, that's something different all together.

Unless I know the individual doing the reloading, I will usually pull the bullets and dump the powder.

Could it be PB?

If so, it might be Expro (the Canadian powder maker) PB. It was sold as IMR PB. A bulky medium speed powder.

What caliber is the ammo?

If it is 38SPl, for example, I would try it in a 357Mag.

You might be onto something here granderite. Expro would explain the EX. This ammo is handloaded .40 S&W from a estate sale. I pulled a few bullets, the power appears to be square and rectangular shaped flakes. A empty .40 case will hold 10.6 of this powder and 14.7 of W231 so it is quite bulky.
