Mystery rifle (pics)

Apparently Oswald paid just under $13 US for that very rifle from a mail order company. A friend of mine has an Eatons Carcano and had a box of Norma 6.5 Carcano that he fired a few rounds of. I was busy fiddling with my Garand and didnt notice how much trouble he had chambering the round, and found the bolt would not unlock. He fired it anyways and a few more with no problems, except the tight fit. Can 6.5 Carcano brass be made to fit and fire safely in one of these? He offered it to me and I would like to buy it if I can feed it.

If the thing is having trouble chambering rounds, get an extra shelholder and shave the top of it five thou (.005"). PAINT that shellholder so you don't get it mixed up wih unaltered ones. Set your sizing die normally, but with the altered shellholder. The shoulder now should set .005" farther backward and the rifle should have no trouble.

Very tight headspace was quite common on Italian rifles. This is your problem.

Betcha two bucks that somebody jumps up within 3 posts and sez that you should check the headspace!!!!!
