I saw a rifle recently with a BEAUTIFUL (maybe 24") carbon fiber barrel of about 1" diameter sheathing what appeared to be a stainless bore sleeve and muzzle cap. It was chambered in .308 on a Rem 700 and it was said to be a custom right from Remington. The price USED was $3000.

Anyone know what this might be, or who makes the barrel?

I do have a photo I took from my phone, which I'll try to host somewhere.

Carbon wrapped barrels

A Swedish female biathelete used a CWB at the last Olympics. My thoughts are that CWB would be more advantagous in a smallbore application than large bore. I'm sure we'll see this application right up to artillery uses. A Gun Nutz member posted some photos of some carbon barrel work he preformed. I always wanted to find out more details from him, but never did. Power on.

I can't surf for info too easily due to dialup. :(

This was a beautiful barrel on a very normal .308 Remi on the HS stock.

Any thoughts?

That is a Model 700 Sendero Composite as advertized in the 1999 Russel Sports catalogue.

They were $2049.99

with carbon fiber prices skyrocketing and availability a pain in the ass, I wonder how much R&D is going into the sporting rifle side of this.

browning did offer a abolt with a carbon barrel for while. and there lots of .22 barrels for the ruger 10/22 that are carbon wrapped
