Does anyone know what this sling is for? I can't find any markings on it.

Parker Hale type target sling as used on things like Lee Enfield No. 8, L39 etc. I have found a few in Canada but they tend to be rare and sometimes expensive. Much more coomon in the UK

I would guess it's from an helmet.

:D

The pics must be deceiving. It's actually very long when fully extended, about 4'5". I just folded it to fit in the picture better. It is definitely a rifle sling of some sort. I'm only guessing that it's milsurp because of the webbing material used.

Thanks, neat. I guess $10 was a good deal then.

:p Thanks for the chuckle, I didn't expect that answer!

Also picked up couple Enfield carrying cases, an WW2 dated 303 ammo box, a pile of parts etc. it was from an older gentleman who shot at Bisley back in the day who wanted to purge some old stuff. He used a DCRA No4 and a later, PH 1200 Palma rifle, neither of which he owns anymore. It was neat talking with him about it.

The leather loops attach on the middle band and king screw. It is called a two-point sling, and pretty stable once you learn how to use it. Quite obsolete for serious shooting anymore, and normally seen in well-used condition.

It appears to be P-H's 1927 pattern sling.
These were almost certainly made from WW1 trouser belts which they purchased at the disposal sales in the Twenties. (They also made them from Lewis Gun slings but that's another story)
