Mystery Winchester magazine. HELP!

I just purchased a magazine for my Winchester Mod.100 off of a fellow CGNer, and there's been one of those merry mix-ups. I just got it in the mail, and I'm not slamming anyone as I think it was an honest error (I'm waiting to hear back from the guy). Other than the Winchester trade mark, there's nothing to indicate calibre or model of firearm. I hope some Winchester guru out there can tell me what rifle it's for and give me a value. I took the liberty of putting it side-by-side with a Mod.100 mag (clearly marked) for comparison. The mystery mag is on the left side in all the pics. Anyone?

Have you tried it in the rifle? I'm wondering if it's not a generational thing, i.e. pre '64/post '64. The only other rifle I can think of with a similar magazine is the model 88, and, though I may be wrong, I always thought they were interchangeable with the M100.

I tried it in the rifle, that's how I know it won't seat or feed. That aside, you'll note the difference in the follower which is very pronounced. Dimensionally they're different as well and you can note the differences visually. As to the interchangeability, I was informed that they are NOT interchangeable. I believe that's why Winchester marked them for the model since the pics I've seen will say Mod.88 or Mod.100 on the mag. I believe they marked the calibres on them also.

I do believe you're correct. Odd that it won't seat in the rifle and it's not stamped for the calibre. I'll play with it a bit. Thank you for the info and the link.
On further inspection, I've found the problem. Compared to my Mod.100 mags, the front and back latch engagement areas are 3-32" lower than on my Mod.100 mags. Does anyone know if that conforms to the norm for a Mod.88 mag?

The first one is a correct pre 64 type 1 Winchester mag which will only work in a pre 64 model 88 or 100 rifle, the pre 64 rifles can use either mag, I know as I have both versions of mags and both pre and post 64 model rifles.
