How 'bout some more info?

Where do you live would be good for starters. That will let us respond about licensing, seasons etc.

As far as what's good, upland is fun and tasty, ducks and geese are fun and tasty, but each is a totally different hunt.

I can't speak to turkey hunting, as I've never done it, but I've heard it's super challenging, as well as fun and tasty.

First of all - excellent avatar! Harvey Birdman is the shiz!
Yes, you need a hunting license and need to take a course. Turkey? You also need another license and to take a course (at least in Ontario. Not sure about the rest of the country.)
Where do you live?

currently living in alberta!
like, do i just take the course, get the licence, get a permit, then go out shooting?

how do i go, do i just go in the bush, or what

thanks!

wel not haveing lived in alberta i can only tell you how ontario works
first you will need to take a hunter safety course then purchase your hunting licence and appropiate tags/seals in ontario if you want to hunt turkey you will require a seperate turkey course and licence. then you will ned a copy of your provincial reg's denoting what seasons are open in your area at what times then you find a good piece of crown land that can offer the game you are after IE: ducks/swampy marshy areas, turkey/feilds/light brush, etc
then get your ammo and accsories drive out to said land and fill you tag limit
make sure you follow ALL safety guidlines both the ones you learned in the hunter safety course and in your CFSC
but given that you have never been before you might be best to look into joining a local fish and game club nd asking around here for someone to take you out and show you the ropes that way your first time out can be a pleasent one and i dont recomend solo hunts for your first couple of times out until you get the hang of it that way if something does happen you'll have someone there
anyway jus my 2 cents

Are you expecting to learn everything you need to know about hunting in this thread? I would recommend you find yourself mentor or go read a couple books or something.

just asking for some simple info to get me started goose
all i really want is info on the hunting course

i really want to hunt goose all of a sudden

Well you are certainly starting out with good equipment...
While you are waiting for your hunting license get out and shoot some trap with the Extrema 2.
And then get some good Goose hunting videos to watch.
Good luck with your new hobby/lifestyle.

Sorry didn't want to sound like an arrogant prick.
It just seemed like you had no clue what you were getting yourself into... (Which in fact, sould not be a problem. We all gotta start somewhere), There's alot of great guys here, take it one step at a time, and have fun with it.
Good Luck

You will learn a lot in you hunter safety class, well at least enough to get you started. Ask plenty of questions of the instructor. I started hunting on a whim a few years ago, having known no one that hunts or having any family that hunts. Definately helps to make some friends who can show you the ropes and get you going.
