So being new in this whole roll your own racket, I've got a question for the more....seasoned veterans. I've been using reloader 19 for several rifles in various cartridges and all love it. It's magical. It's as if Bruce Willis' bones were ground up as a powder and converted into this "pixie dust" that all my local gun stores tell me it is. My 325 wsm, my 280ai, my 7 saum, my 270. But now. It seems as if it's no longer available. Old Bruce bones are done. All ground up. Any that's left them damn thieves across the border are holding it all for themselves. So in recent light of this, I started reading burn charts. And it lists norma N205 as an equivalent. I'm sure there's another one but cannot think of it. Who has experience with these powders as a substitute. Input? Much appreciated guys.

Regards,
Kid

H4831 where does it sit? I can interchange data for it in my .338 win mag and .308NM with identical accuracy and no pressure signs Yours may be different.......Harold

I would dispute that burn rate chart's placement of Norma 205 vs RL 19. I have used both extensively in many different chamberings.

If you can find N205 [It was discontinued 40 years ago] or it's practically identical replacement, Norma MRP, you will find it somewhat slower burning than RL19.
The closest equivalent is Reloder 22, which is very similar in burn rate to Norma MRP.

I have a supply of both RL19 and Norma MRP, and the difference in a 30-06 with a 180 grain bullet is between 2 and 3 grains at similar velocities.
RL22 is about the same as Norma MRP

While there s a trickle now and then, Norma powders have been notoriously hard to find in recent years.
But, Norma MRP and H4831 are reasonably similar in burn rate, and H4831 is usually available.

Unless you happen upon some old stock stashed away, I doubt you will find Norma 205 anywhere.

Regards, Dave.

The Canadian Distributor for Norma products is not an enthusiastic contributor to the shooting sports.
Unable to get a line on who is handling their products.
About as useless as trying to mate elephants and mice . . .

x2 very frustrating trying to deal with them.

Most likely Norma 205 and reloader 22 is the exact same powder. Both Alliant and Norma powders are made in Sweden by Bofors. I have been told by good, but not official authority that 205/MRP is the same as Reloader 22. Reloader 15 was said to be the same as Norma 203 and I tried that pair and in 7-08 cartridges and they each gave the same velocities, within the usual similar variances.
Last summer I was able to get some sealed tins of both 205 and MRP, as well as the scarcer Norma 203 and 204.

Bruce, you are right as usual:
N205=RL22
N204=RL19
N203=RL15
