Well, I have a bull only/calf (moose) license this year for area 36 (southern Shore), Newfoundland. I live in just outside St. John's so it's not a long drive into the hunting area.

I've been "up" know about 10 times, and have yet to see a bull. I've only seen 3 cows, and no calfs either. The season opened on oct. 4 and runs until jan.7 I believe. So there is still lots of time, but I just can't seem to find any darn bulls. I've tried calling, scent cover/mare in heat scent spray. spot and stalk, still hunting, and yet nothing.

I really want a big ol'e bull, since this will be only my second license (i'm 22). I shot a nice 14 point bull 2 years back in my "own area" in which I live. So I know every boghole, rock, moose were-a-bouts etc...Now, that the rut is pretty well over, I'm gonna have to look and try even harder for mr. moose.

I'm looking for some help/advice on post-rut moose hunting for bulls. I would still like to get a big fella, but if all comes to all, I shoot which ever bull I can find. Anybody got any tips / experience with post-rut bull moose hunts. I need some help. Please.

Thanks,
Billy

I have seen a LOT of moose in Area 36 this past year. Counted sixteen one morning alone on Salmonier Line. Admittedly, they have all been cows, calves or young bulls. I suspect that if you want to find the big one in Area 36, you're going to have to get well off the beaten track.
