I've looked and looked, does anyone know where A guy could get a scope mount for the Nagant? I'm not looking for the one that replaces the rear sight leaf but the one that you have to drill and tap for the reciever. I checked Marstar but they are sold out. I should add mine is a Polish M44 and the bolt has already been modified (turned down).

Thanks

I have seen remakes of the original Russian PU sniper scopew/mount for sale. enough eye releif plagues this set up Im told. In fact most Mosin Nagants from Ellwood Epps have one of theese things on them and for some reason they figure that the gun is now worth $800-900 because of it!! (most of them are guns that look like they were dug up from a trench, dragged over the polar icecap by a T-34 all the may to the store from moscow....except for the shiny new scope.) The optics are only 4x20mm ,though they look like the original Mosin scope.

The "scout scope" mount is a joke for a scope and requires a long eye relief scope and again of relatively low power.

I'm unaware of a over the bolt scope base. The mosin Nagant would need a special rear atachment and brass deflector as there is no rear bridge to bolt the scope mount to.
(That doesnt mean that they are not out there though)

I have thought long and hard about this problem too. I finaly decided to leave my virgin gun just that. I did find some Mosin parts and acessories but alass they were in the USA and no one would ship to Canada so I gave up. Since you already have a bent bolt however.......

Sorry for a poor picture... it's designed for Mosin rifles; view from the inside (right side of a mount). pm me if you looking for something like this:

Afraid you aren't going to get a lot of help bubba'ing a mosin nagant. FYI I've had an M44 with a side mounted scope on it and generally preferred it without the scope.

Teapot, I cant find that mount on your site, is it new? Does the rail reach over and center over the bore, or is it offset like the POSP scopes? I'm kind of interested if it will work for my SKS.

I got one from Milarm in AB. ATI was the manfactorer I think. Came with a crappy " cut off the bolt handle and install a screw-on handle instead"
But the actual scope mount was OK.
And yeah I bubba'd it. I don't know that I'd do it again but I'm not a total purist either. As far as I'm concerned they are kinda like Jack-all's; handy as hell but...meant to be used

It's a new one. To the best of my knowledge it's centered over the barrel...we are going to import them in early December.

You can find repro mosin nagant mounts and scopes on e-bay.Most of them come from Belarus or the Ukraine though occasionally you can buy them out of the US.They look exactly like the original and with a little careful work you can turn a 91-30,M-38 or a M-44 into a sniper repro, even though the last two aren't correct. Some of the sellers even offer three mounts that are drilled with different spacings so if you have a ex-sniper you can buy a mount that matches the existing holes.
