Name that cartridge

Hey folks

Was at the club today doing some pistol word and decided to cruise by the rifle range and see what was going on. Not a soul around today, but I came across some discarded brass that was in stripper clips. Can anyone name this cartridge? Is it just run of the mill 7.62?

The headstamp says FNM at the top and 72-4 at the bottom

Do you own a metric tape measure?

Tell us how long the case is, and the diameter of the mouth, and we will have a much better idea.

7.9x57 Portugese made.

So is that supposed to be the same as 8mm Mauser?

PS, I did measure it and it was roughly 8x57
