Savage 1899 or 99 .

Definitely a Savage 99 or 1899 as stated above. There was slight variations of the M-99 but generally that's the gender of that rifle.

Very popular and it is a good, maybe even great rifle.
Dozens of variations and collector interest.
The older one's prior to one million made hold the most interest.

Definitely a 99, I going to speculate that it’s a 250-3000, just because

Cresent butt plate ,26" round barrel = 1899A made from 1899 to 1927 caliber could be 303sav-30-30win,25-35win,32-40win,38-55win or 300sav hard to tell from the picture but at the front of receiver looks like a take down with the slide part way up the forearm
