Bad recording with distortion. I am guessing either a bloodhound (or similar) in the distance or a moose roar that is very distorted. The bulls make some bizarre sounds when they are challenging each other.

A had a rutting bull moose walk past me in the one morning that was vocalizing like a rottweiler coughing up a wool sock. I did not encourage him as it was early December on an elk hunt and moose was over. Didn't want a self defense situation.He was still talking to himself a kilometer away.
