Name your 2 favorites powders rifle and pistol...

I'm loading 13 different calibers and a couple of years ago I decided to consolidate my powders to W231, Unique & IMR 4895. This covers 95% of my reloading needs.
 
Can't limit it to 2 powders. I have 3 staples in my cabinet

Varget for the .223
Longshot for the .45's (don't see a lot of people using this)
H110 for the .357, 44 mag, and the .454 Casull
 
I seem to burn a lot of 3031 in my 223 and 308.
It's actually my go to powder until I need something special.

I use 8208 when I want something slower, and 4198 when I want faster.
 
Lately ,i have to say that i got my hand on a good batch of 8 pounds of Varget, used for my 308 reload with 155 gr Lapua Scenar, i took no chance and immediately order another 8 pound from that good batch, should be good for a while... JP.
 
I mainly reload for .223 & .308 & have had the best results with Hodgdon Benchmark.

For pistol it's hard to beat Alliant Promo. It duplicates Red Dot weight for weight in performance but costs a lot less ($90/8 pounds locally). Also works well for shotgun target loads. It's a flake powder so metering is not as good as ball but for high volume use it's hard to beat. Of course for powder puff target loads, Bullseye is still the old standby.
 
It would seem to me that every one of my rifles and calibers like a different powder. I use everything from Li'l gun to US 869 and H50BMG. Short cases unique and 296 and maybe Li'l gun.
 
Most of my rifle reloading is for milsurp calibers- 30-06, 308, 8x57, 7x57, 6.5x55, 7.62x54R, 303 Br etc. Use IMR 4064 for jacketed bullets and 2400 for cast.
Reload some pistol in 38spl ,38 S&W, 9 mm and 32-20. usually with Unique.
Having said that I keep a running inventory of my powders and I've got part cans of 20 different powders on hand right now including several that I use in shotguns. It will get used up sooner or later.
