I think it'd be neat to do, but I don't have any strong compelling reason to do so. Like others have said, it's mostly dear and yotes I can be bothered with.

I certainly prefer "dears," to yotes!

POLAR BEAR HUNTING...I think it would be a once in a life time experience. I'm just wondering if the outfitter would throw in a few Inuit beaver hunts for free.

btw, how do you hunt a polar bear up there, is it a sit and wait near a popular area deal or is it a constant stalk on the ice or something?

in all my trips north i never got to see a polar bear, the closest i got was that humongeous beast of a pelt in the churchill airport and all i know is i wouldn't want to be reverse hunted by one of those

I'd want more than a semi auto 308, personally. And I'm not a magnum guy at all.

No, I would not like to hunt polar bears for reasons mentioned by a couple others. I also usually buy a black bear tag and often just sneak up on them during hunting season, and have yet to pull the trigger, despite being inside 50y on many good sized bears. Bears just aren't something I want to kill I guess.

The .308 Win will work fine. I've known Polar Bears to be taken with everything from a .22LR, to .22-250, to .303 British, along with the standard .30 cals. It is mostly tourist hunters that bring the heavy artillery when going after ice bears. Nothing wrong with that, however, there is a palpable difference between the guys who essentially grow up with a rifle in their hands, to the occasional range shooter looking for an adventure and who has the wallet to purchase it.
