Narrowed down to 3 used rifles.

i would go with the a bolt if you want a detachable mag. if wanting a ruger look for a mark2. the older rugers can be hit and miss in the acuracy department. i have had both. tack drivers and dogs. never had a bad mark2. there built like tanks.

Agreed, all good picks. I'd go Husky just for my personal preference for old stuff....
I'd guess that the Browning might shoot a hair better than the Ruger, and have a tad nicer fit and finish, but old Bill Ruger didn't make too many lemons either....
 
I can see some benefit in all of them, and since I can't see or shoot any of them everything I say is academic.

The Browning is a delimna, people either like or hate the magazine, angular shape, stock design and gloss urethane finish. Some don't like that the triggers aren't the greatest. Like them or hate them, the darn things always worked and they all seemed to shoot.

The Ruger is a tough one. Im not sure exactly sure when the pretend controlled feed became real, but I think it was all after the tang safeties were gone. There are so many bad shooting Rugers that they have become a joke in some circles. The triggers on the old ones are a joke in all circles and if you like a decent one you better figure on changing it. Somehow I did like the feel of them though.

I want to pick the Husky, but those rifles are older than I am. That by itself isn't a deal breaker but without seeing or shooting them I'd give it a pass. Also figure in that installing a pad on it will add another 150 to the price. Same for the Ruger. That starts heading toward a price that will buy or almost buy many decent brand new rifles that come with decent pads, a warranty and aren't someone else's culls.

Buying used is supposed to save you money, and I'm not seeing a great price to justify the used gun risk on any of them. The Browning probably comes closest and I'm one of the guys that doesn't care much for them.

Without seeing a major price drop on the last two I wouldn't touch them.

Forget the A-Bolt. They shoot well, but have an abortion for a magazine system, and the triggers suck.

Buy this listed Remington 700...you will not regret it. I'm willing to bet it shoots very well, and those older units were solid guns.

The order you have them listed in is the order I would take them.

Edited to add: Really easy to fix the triggers on the A-bolt, Timney makes a spring kit that works wonders.
 
Hard choices.....

I have an A-bolt in .300 Win Mag - very accurate rifle.

I have two Ruger 77 "tang safety" models.... one in .243 and one in 7x57mm. Both nice rifles.

And I have always had a soft spot for Husqvarna sporting rifles. Don't currently have one, though.

Just my $0.02 but a buddy of mine had a 7mm Rem Mag A-Bolt which was very nice looking and he said shot very well... but I just didn't take to it.

As another person mentioned - something about the way it shouldered, the way it felt in my hands. I'd suggest going to a retail gun store to try the Browning and Ruger and see how you like em.

The Husky is a bit more problematic - might find one at a gun show to try, or maybe someone with one might invite you to shoot it.

Yes, but the kit does nothing to fix the ones in which the trigger "shoe" itself is broken. I've seen 3 of these now, it's some kind of pot metal, rather than steel.

Try find an A-Bolt and see how it feels. As you can see by the responses its love or hate. I have two A-Bolt medallions (270wsm and 223) and love them both, both very accurate and fit me great.
