Narrowed first coyote rig to CZ 527 Varmint or Tikka T3 HB Varmint

Why do you want a heavy barrel for coyote hunting? I know for me coyote hunting includes long walks threw deep snow.

Last thing I want is a 9lb rifle+scope to lug around. Sporter barrel guns are what I like.

I got a Tikka t3 .22-250 and Remington 700 .223. Both are great guns, never needed the a heavy barrel

He wanted this rig to be able to pull double duty, coyote hunting and range work. Hence, the heavy barrel which is why the CZ makes sense, it comes in at about 7.5 lbs with a heavy barrel, if he buys a scope with a one inch tube and 40 to 44 mm objective lense he should be able to keep this rig under 9lbs.

Final product was the CZ with Leupold VX3 6.5-20x40 AO Varmint reticle. Bit overkill on the magnification probably, but for the price it made sence, and was the only varmint reticle I could find with the AO in 40mm. Scope was used, but not much...basically brand new. I paid $700. Retails for about $1100 new. Heavy barrel is for double duty as mentioned, but also leaves me with with something else to look at when I'm ready to buy another rifle that could double as a coyote/antelope gun. Maybe a 243, or 257 or something. I really appreciate everyones help/advise with my first coyote rig purchase. This was a $3000 gun. $1000 for the gun, $1000 for scope rings and goodies, $1000 fro new gun safe cause I ran out of room in my other ones.LOL. Merry Christmas to me!!!
