Looking for a .22 pistol with a rail, and I like the look of both platforms, as different as they are. I was hoping shooters out there with one or both could chime in and give their feedback as to whether or not there are any chronic feeding or reliability issues with either. Thanks

The ISSC pistol does not function at all like a Glock.

It looks like one from a distance. But when you pick it up you see that it has an exposed hammer and a single action trigger like a 1911. It's not a good Glock knock-off.

The GSG however is a very good 1911 knock-off. It handles and operates exactly like a real 1911 pistol. Everything but the amount of recoil is exactly the same.

Get the GSG.

Thanks for the detailed info. :)

2 most crappy choices in .22lr pistols.

Well thank you sir for the words of encouragement and such a positive post! There are not enough CGN members out there like you! So direct and to the point, without so much as a word of explanation regarding your point of view. It would be great to hear about your actual experience having personally owned both models, as that is what I was asking for in my original post after all.

I have read good and bad regarding both on the net, what I am looking for are real shooters that have had them for a while. You never know on a website who is promoting the brand, and who actually owns one.

Take care!

from two of your listed choices, I'd go for GSG 1911, had one before and never have problems, reliable & accurate...
IMO this GSG feels/looks a little bit cheap made and the finish is of poor grade quality (especially slide finish).
on the other hand if I have to put my good faith in a .22 pistol, then always my choice will be a Ruger MKIII in stainless, a real range horse that never let me down all these years....my 0.02c

GSG 1911 is a nice, fun .22. I also would suggest looking at the Sig P226 Classic. They are pretty reliable and have very good accuracy. Once you get bored with .22lr you can buy a x-change kit in the caliber of your choosing.

You know, a while back I was considering the Ruger Hunter stainless. The fluted barrel brought it up a notch for me. I will have to look at tha one again, evryone who owns one seems to swear by them.

Wait! a .22 frame built to withstand a barrel and slide caliber upgrade? Hmmm, I was blissfully unaware of that. Perhaps that's what effschool was referring too. Do you recommend any of the stocking dealers? To be honest, I would love to stay as far away from plastic as possible....

You can do the same with a regular 1911, the GSG top section will slide right on along with several other conversion kits.

I don't have a 226 in .22, and not 100% but I don't think the slide locks back on the last round, or maybe that's just Sigs conversion kit? But that was a huge no thanks for me, maybe a OCD thing, but that would bug the crap out of me, but I do love my 226 in 9mm, awesome gun.

I have a GSG 1911, only 400 rnds through but so far flawless, I ran 100 mini mags and then shot 150 of CCI sub sonics just because I heard it wouldn't cycle them but it did once again flawless. Only complaint I have heard on them since they did the upgrades to the barrel bushing and the guild rod has been that the finish wears quick. A quick swap of gips and they look pretty damn good when new.

IMO-
GSG is a good gun
SIG 226 classic is a better gun (the slide doesn't lock after 10 btw)
Ruger MkIII- best sub $1k 22 going.

I have owned and shot all of the above, in fact, still own 2 of the three..

Gsg for me, had mine four months now, after being a little picky on ammo for the first 200 rounds, polished the feed ramp and flawless ever since..... Shooting fed bulk all day, up to 3500 rounds. Best 400$ pistol ever!......,
Junk my arse.. I guess if it aint a .45 it aint worth a dime.enjoy whatever you buy..

Yep, same thing I was referring to, my post was just woefully void of any useful information beyond the name, I'll try to have my coffee before replying next time :)

The girl has a 226 Classic .22, and it doesn't lock back after the mag is emptied. I've heard talk of upgrade kits for the .22 magazines that alter that if you really wanted, but I'm not sure of the price or any suppliers. I have a 9mm 226 and we've swapped the slides just to see how they'd run... Was flawless in both directions. I haven't had any problems with FTF or FTE with any ammunition in the Classic 22, even the cheap value pack stuffs (I haven't tried a ton of brands to be honest though. CCI Blazer, Rem Golden Bullets, Federal Champion... One or two more that I can't remember offhand).

SFRC has the cheapest price of the site sponsors that I've seen, and right after we both bought our Sigs I figured out that it was cheaper for her to get two calibers from buying the Classic 22 and an XChange kit, than it was for me just to buy the 9mm 226. Ouch.

I have both as a buddy without a RPAL bought the GSG and kept it with me. They are comparable use cci mini mags and they are flawlessly. If you have larger hands go gsg , issc is quite small my gf loves it but it is a bit small for a large mans hands

I have had both in the past. While almost everyone gives the ISSC a bad rap it really is a fantastic gun so long as you run CCI mini mag ammo threw it. Anything else causes problems.
My old GSG ran flawless on almost any type of cheap bulk ammo I could get and kept shooting.
Both of the pistols are on par for accuracy.
If you want reliable, accurate, cheap to shot (CCI Mini Mag isnt really that cheap compared to .22lr bulk) get the GSG. If you have a glock and want something to ressemble it side by side at the range get the ISSC.

You want a GREAT .22lr get the CZ Kadet pistol. Best .22lr pistol I have ever had. Shoots like a laser beam.
