National Match sights...where should I look?

Have a Poly305, and I'm looking to stick with iron sights, but I like the idea of the National Match front and rear irons. At least the rear assembly.

Where should I look to find these?

What kind of price range am I in for?

Can I mount this easily myself?

Would the assembly include the windage adjustment pieces for the rear sight system?

Is importing these going to be a problem/issue?

Thanks!

Brownells is the only place I'm aware of that you can buy new manufacture, springfield armory inc , national Match sight sets.
i seem to remember in the 250 ish range
you may have an issue due to the value exceeding 100.00
you may be able to order the NM rear sight parts seperately and bring them in in smaller parcels unde the 100 value but this is gonna be expensive.

call brownells, they will tell you if there are export restrictions. Talked to them this morning as a matter of fact. I got good news on all items I ordered :D

Just remeber to buy it in small parts 1 by 1 and ask it to be shipped via USPS.
;)
Also there are some other dealer's down south that can sell you some if you look hard enough.

Then there is the Italian guy selling garand rear sights. Not national match but good repeatable sights for $75 shipped.. I am waiting for a set right now.

I think I could be interested, could you PM me with contact info?

Basically just bought the rifle, we were mucking about with it, and suddenly the elevation feature no longer worked! Argh!!! :HR: I'm guessing the little gear teeth are stripped already...hadn't even had the chance to test-fire it, much less attempt to zero it.

I intended to stick with iron sights, knew the Chinese sight pieces are soft sometimes, and fully intend to go full National Match on both front and rear...but when I checked Brownells, they only list a complete rear assembly at $270  US...yikes! By the time I factor in duty, shipping, exchange rate, it won't be that far off of the price I paid for the rifle!

So for now, I'm thinking of a replacement for the standard rear assembly...until I can afford the NM sights, possibly in mid-summer.

I've never shot one of these rifles before, or disassembled one either 'till yesterday, but I'm already impressed with the design. Chinese iron sights not so much, but even with replacement parts it'll still be way cheaper than a 'Springer that's well out of my price range.

FWIW, the Chinese rifles are good receivers with bonus parts. Upgrading anything gets rapidly expensive - welcome tothe M14S game ;)

I do have a set of genuine m14 front and rear sights in the EE.
these are graduated in meters , unlike the garand which are graduated in yards.
BOTH are equally excellent upgrades to the M14s/M305 rear sights.
the m14 rear sights are a little more rare and generally fetch much higher $$

Creedmore sports has the national match aperture and front blade. As for the mechanism, take it apart, read up on how to adjust it, and make sure it is actually fubar before assuming its garbage. It might just need proper adjustment. I've seen new guns sold at dealers with the rear sight completely maladjusted and looking broken.

Ordered a set of NM sights (non-hooded) from 7,62mm last week. 25$ front + 25$ rear = 50$!

I received it today. Good news: nice like their other products.
Bad news: rear sight is only the aperture part. I should have known it wasn't a whole assembly for 25$.

The front sight comes with the screw. Unlike the SAI NM sights, there's no marking on these.

I ordered a Kreiger rear NM and was told it is made slightly oversize so it can be stoned/filed to fit all Garand/M14's. That's likely the same issue with fitting the Brownells sight to the Poly.

The Italian guy with the garand sights contact info, His name is Andy, Email is ghostkill@libero.it. Now it's been 3 weeks since I ordered mine and I haven't received them yet, but they may be hels up at customs. Will post when they arrive.

Picked up my Garand rear sight from Andy as well. I don't have it yet, should be soon. My NM front sight I bought on Ebay this week for about $40 shipped.
