Well so far from what I've seen, there's just as many in Standard then there is in Production. I was afraid that with my CZ 75B SA, I wouldn't have a big crowed in my category, I guess I was wrong. I should be fine with my CZ right? I guess the practice is the most important thing. Should I bring my Glock 22 as a backup pistol? Would this work for Standard?

Oh many people have backup guns...
You probably do not need to "skip a stage". If something goes wrong with your gun early in a stage you probably will "zero" that stage. Then you can go fix your gun. Bring along some spare parts, or worst case generally someone will have the spare parts you need. When you get up and running you can rejoin your squad. If you missed a stage no doubt the organizers will slot you in later to catch it up.

I have always been amazed with how IPSC shooters (and shooters in general) work to get someones gun back up and running. It is one of the best aspects of the sport.

5.1.7 Competitors must use the same handgun and type of sights for all courses of fire in a match. However, in the event that a competitor’s original handgun and/or sights become unserviceable or unsafe during a match, the competitor must, before using a substitute handgun and/or sights, seek permission from the Range Master who may approve the substitution provided he is satisfied:

5.1.7.1 The substitute handgun satisfies the requirements of the relevant Division.
5.1.7.2 In using the substitute handgun the competitor will not gain a competitive advantage.
5.1.7.3 The competitor’s ammunition, when tested in the substitute handgun attains the minimum power factor using the match chronograph (see Rule 5.6.3.9).

Same handgun unless it breaks
Same type of sight if it breakes.

The RM should let him use a Glock if his CZ breaks. The reverse may not be true...if the RM decides that the CZ (over the Glock) would give him a competative advantage...

My interpretation is that Range Master won't allow to replace broken CZ or Glock with an open gun, but switching between CZ and Glock (or any other gun that is eligible for the same division) should be possible, but they will have to retest the ammo for power factor using a replaced gun.

But the CZ is 9mm while the G22 is .40

That cannot work out.............unless he only scores minor.

Yes, I believe it will be all scored to minor. The same rule apply if RM decides to retest the ammo in a middle of the match and could find that it does not make the major, then all stages, including ones that been shot already are scored as minor.

Does the Glock qualify for standard? It has the factory sights on it that is a little diffrent then the 3 dot one on the CZ.

As long as it fits into the box and matches all the division requirements from appendix D2 of the current rulebook. :)

it is the RM's call and he applies the rules so that the competitor does not get an advantage. ie, you are shooting open and you gun breaks and you want to use a standard or a production gun. if a standard major was used then he would be shooting open. if he was using a production gun minor then he would be shooting open minor.
