or have court ordered payments, a huge morgtage, a gambling addiction, or a strong consumer motive LOL

KRASH all the best to you no matter what you decide to pursue you'll do great and remember now adays we all have/had multiple jobs, trades, proffesion, bussinesses etc so even if you make a 'mistake' big deal.

Only thing that can make it extra difficult is forgetting your condoms or getting hitched with out engaging your brain first!

Great advice, I'll just add that having a goal is the best motivator, don't give up. If there are no openings when you are ready to work, get a gov. job.....once you have worked for "the Man" you will be eligible to apply from within and gov. employees have priority over outside applicants.....with the same skill sets of course. You will know about the openings before the public does.

Well - I think life is a bit more complex for young folks these days, in comparison to my generation that grew up in the seventies. I didnt have the presence of mind to make these types of career/life decisions when I was 18 years old - thats for sure.
I can recall my Dad collaring me one day when I was in Grade 13. "What are you going to do when you finish high school?"
I replied " I'm going to continue working at Canadian Tire!" (I had a part time position at CTC for $1.85 an hour. Living at home, I had lots of coin for toys.)
"No way" replied my father. "If you decide not to continue going to school, you're going to have to get a real, full-time job, and move out of the house." That scenario sounded rather unpleasant, so I decided to ask my father about continued education.
"Dad - If you go to college, do you have to go to class?" "No" replied my father. "And you can sleep in as long as you want, as long as you pass"
This sounded much more reasonable to me, as I was very lazy as a teenager - so I made the decision to continue my education. In retrospect, this was the best decision I ever made, regardless of my reason for doing so.
I would encourage the OP to do his research, and sustain as much education as you can.

Cosmic I sure hope you studied literature or Journalism cause you got a gift for the funny! Any chance you have enough life material for a short book yet?

Wow is that suppose to be encouragement or discouragement. Sounds like a dream job to me. Just replace Ontario with Costa Rica and sign me up!
