Nazi Marked Hi Power Pistol

While you can justfiably hate the Nazis, this gun was not purchased from them. It was either taken from a german soldier when he surrendered or was killied. The gun has a nazi symbol, but the gun itself is a souvenir of our victory over Nazi Germany.

Congratulations.

Wow. What a great piece of history. Looks damn fine for a 70-year old too.

And it started a great thread about the value of historical pieces like this. I understand QuietWhisper's point of view, but I've always tried to apply the axiom that those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.

In my mind preserving artifacts of past conflicts is extremely important, especially now as the population of veterans of WW2 is dwindling. When the last of those who were there have passed on, it will be only pieces like this GP35 that remain to remind us of that horrible episode in human history.

Again, congrats on a great aquisition. I hope you show it off often.

I have one of these pistols as well. It fits in with the early high power pistols that were made before ww2. The you have the ww2 and inglis pistols.

I own a Inglis and I recently acquired a Luger P08.... I won't keep them in the same safe in fear they may attack each other!

Well thanks for understanding, I respect your point as well. Im not saying to destroy all evidence of the past, I just get very passionate thinking about the things that have happened in those times that only the dead could be witness to. It is also hard to accept seeing that Nazi symbol (especially on a gun) and what it REALLY stood for. Im not try to argue, merely in awe of the reality of such hate.

I'm working in NE India at the moment, that "nazi" symbol is everywhere. It's an ancient good luck symbol, throughout SE Asia and the sub-continent. It's actions that define the people that use the tools, not symbols. - dan

I collect Nazi pistols and have researched much of the horror of the Nazi period. To me, collecting them is like having a victory trophy representing the Axis total defeat by the Allies. Too many brave young men died to give that defeated little "Hitler chicken" any power over us today.

I've got one. My bluing is in better shape but the front sight is missing(anyone know where I can get one) You can tell it spent a lot of time in someones hand. I've often wonder about its history & what was done with it.

Coming from an ethnic group that lost about 1,000,000 (15-20% of the pre-war population) to Nazi concentration camps (and that doesn't even count general occupation and the liberation war), I'd still rock one of those puppies. As it was mentioned before, the object itself is just a tool and it is a good symbol of our victory over evil. Beautiful find OP. Make sure you mount a rail, tac light and red dot :D
