Nazi marked SVT?

I've wondered about this too. It would make sense if there weren't many around... after all - all we get shipped is stuff from former Soviet countries, not necessarily countries that would have German marked rifles.
 
From what I've read only the ones that didn't make the German accuracy requirement or had other problems received the German stamp. I read that these were shipped back, fixed stamped and then re issued. The other captures were simply issued to the troops. I can't confirm this though.

This last batch of SVT-40 rifles has DE09 on it :D. No doubt former Eastern Germany. Who knows there may be some with the German markings. One of the rifles I bought came withma SVT-38 magazine instead of the SVT-40 (actually slightly nicer than the SVT-40 ones)

Not East German, new United Nations country of origin markings. Luckily Canadian start date was pushed back for a year again in December.
 
My guess (and it is just a guess) is that the DE09 ones that Epoxy mentioned were ComBloc supplied to the former East Germany after WW2, which then became part of the unified Germany.
If so, the DE would be the new UN mark for Deutschland

THE INTERNATIONAL INSTRUMENT TO ENABLE STATES TO IDENTIFY AND TRACE, IN A TIMELY AND RELIABLE MANNER, ILLICIT SMALL ARMS AND LIGHT WEAPONS.

Basically (if I have this right) a modern UN Dangerous Goods marking for your gun.

Look it up. If you're already annoyed at the Feds for messing about in your firearms related business, you'll love this.

No these rifles recently came out of Ukraine , distributor/wholesaler is in Germany which signed the UN agreement (reason for DE09 markings). United Nations wanted Ukraine to destroy its surplus weapons, but Ukraine wanted the money instead. Unfortunately, other countries like Canada, France, Norway, South Africa, etc..., complied with UN demands and destroyed their Surplus Guns!
 
Doubt you'll ever see one. The SVT wasn't an official Nazi era German weapon. Battlefield pick ups wouldn't have been stamped with acceptance marks.

Land mines were destroyed as part of the Third World Debating Club's silly ideas though. The Socialist F**ks were the first to jump on that band wagon, as I recall.

It received the official German designation of SIG.259(r). In fact the Germans made up operating manuals for them to do the widespread use of them. Many received acceptance marks of one kind or another.

This is not uniques to captured weapons or designs, i.e. the Hi=power, Radom and others.

Yes I know they are the UN markings. Was simply speculating that as former com block surplus they would have been in storage in Eastern Germany.

Interesting information about the origin of these rifles. I didn't realize they were from the Ukraine.

Another reason to pride ourselves for paying taxes to a socialist-ran POS nanny state! I think Ukraine has 10x more balls than the rest of the above mentioned countries combined... good for them!

But what's next for us? The destruction of all kitchen knives and shaving razors in the name of some unrealistic idea of "world peace"? (you know... that hippie wet dream which somehow came out of crack pipes in the 60's...)

Thats right and since the USSR took over east Germany, Am sure the soviets got there stolen guns back ;) So I am sure there would be afew floating around.
 
AS A MATTER OF INTEREST;
The Germans did re-issue just about everything they captured, assigning each model a German acceptance number....

I have a Bren, a Thompson, an M-44 among others that are waffenamp marked.... At one time we sold off a pile of M-44 carbines in Canada that were so marked....

So they are out there.... BUT beware of fakes.

Don't even think about getting any SVT-40s with German markings in. I have too many of these rifles already. :D
