I have this walther p38

It was taken from a german officer by a veteran that recently died and 10 years ago his wife sold me the pistol.

I am trying to find how this gun worth with the serial number ( if its rare or anything but cant find the batch because of the little sign that look like a zero after the serial

look like a ac 41 but cannot find what batch.

The serial number is 6xx4

The gun saw many service because the finish not so good would say average condition

The eagle of the slide got file down ( I understand the veteran didnt like the nazi )

I've seen some P38s in much better condition go for around $750. with all roll stamps intact. Looking at these pics, it looks like it's in rough shape. You might be looking at around $300-450. But that's just my guestimate.

What you have there is a 2nd Variation AC 41. Your pistol was produced at the Walther factory in July 1941. The digit after your serial number is actually an ``e`` suffix, indicating monthly production. they made a total of 70 000 2nd Variation AC 41s like yours so it's not a rare bird...

I'm curious about the little stamp on the trigger bar (right side) If it actually is a 5 point star it could mean your P38 was used post war in the DDR. That would also explain the ``peened Waffenampts``.

On value I'll just say that this condition doesnt appeal to collectors so it's more in the ``shooter`` range, same for the holster...

Hope this helps a bit, keep us posted on that ``mystery proof`` on the trigger bar...
