NC Star for SKS = CRAP

Buyer beware....I did read on this forum that NC Star is crap but I did not realize how crappy it is.

I purchased a scope mount for my sks and scope and rings as a package deal. The make and the fitment is horrible. The instructions said that there may be some "light" filing needed to fit the sks rear properly.

The welding job on the bottom mount was crooked so it jammed the bolt. Then the metal itself is cut unevenly and was very rough so it scraped the hell out of the bolt carrier.

Lastly it replaced the rear bolt cover but the pin that pushes through the rear was out almost 3-4 mm...so there is no way to redrill or file or anything to make it fit...WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP.

Can anyone suggest a decent scope mount that does not seat high? Leapers, B-square...anyone?

What were your experiences like? The scope seems ok, but I will never buy an NC Star product again.

just got the ncstar cover as well it doesn't fit on my norinco at all. just by looking at it with comparison to original, there is some serious stuff to remove before it will be smooth. its new untouched anyone want to buy it? i don't think i will have the time.

Scope mounts that replace the rear reciever cover are very hit and miss, and mostly they miss. I have one that is bang on, but it is unmarked and so I cannot pass on the manufacturer. I have tried others that were garbage. From everything I have seen and read, you basically need a drill-and-tap side mount of some sort to work reliably on the SKS. The Choate mount is very well respected, and the ones Teapot2 sells look great to me.

Funny I used the NcStar receiver cover mount. I did have to do a good amount of work, but it works great. I also used the NcStar reflex sight and pounded out 600 rounds last Sunday with it and it worked great as a pair.
