NcStar Scope Failure

My biggest issue with their scopes was the quick release mount not holding zero, when taken on and off. Their rep said set up the scope mount on the rail and loctite the adjusting nut and it should stay put. Will have to try it. I have used one on my CX-Storm for close to a thousand rounds with no problem other than the above. Also used one on my AR same issue above, but nothing wrong with the glass itself.

As long as there is an endless market for cheap junk, there will be an endless supply of cheap junk...

+1

the counterfeit items that plague the market would disappear if people weren't so concerned with being a mirror commando rather than actually shooting.

the reason to sell them is if the customer pays $99 for the scope and the cost is $29 this equals profit. Customer returns and complains they have to deal with NCstar for warranty. In the mean time can I offer you this other scope and get a 2nd sale out of the deal. It is easy to load the shelves with inventory when it is cheap.

I hear what you're saying. In my opinion, shops that offer such cheap crap aren't worth my time or my money. Selling garbage and possibly employing the tactic you mention above is shady business.

No one wants to pay top dollar for gear but we all know that in general, you get what you pay for.

x2!

It amazes me that people are willing to spend $1000+ on a rifle, but won't spend $200 on a scope. A Redfield Revolution would have done quite nicely on the rifle, and doesn't cost very much.

I have the same problem, the QR mount is total crap and cannot be fixed. The glass seems not bad for the price.

I would'nt put it on anything with a lot of recoil (My M14 destroyed a bushnell 3200) but on an AR it should work good enough for shooting paper.

If you going to do serious shooting then you should get a serious scope, for cheap plinking then a cheap scope might be good enough.

As I mentioned in my earlier thread, the NcStar scope I recently purchased and installed on my 7 x 57 Brno lasted for just 3 shots before the focus mechanism crapped out and could not focus the scope anymore. The dealer was very obliging and immediately gave me a new replacement. ( I know, you folks told me NcStar products were junk, other responders indicated if I was dumb enough to buy a NcStar, I deserved to have the problem). In any case, since the unit was replaced with no hassle whatsoever from the dealer, I installed it on the same rifle. I took the rifle to the range yesterday to sight in the rifle. I'm here to tell you that the new unit worked much better than its predecessor which failed after the 3 shots. The fact is the new unit lasted for 13 shots before the parallax feature crapped out. As everyone knows in baseball, it's 3 strikes and your out. In my world of scopes, it's 2 strikes and adios amego. Tomorrow I will be returning this piece of junk and investing in a more reputable manufacturer. Just want to advise all you readers that your negative comments about NcStar units are 100 percent correct. I'll never recommend their product again.

Well dont i feel a whole lot better now :) Mine crapped out today. Im sorry you had the hassle but I can go back to the store tomorrow and tell him straight its a POS
Dont even think I want the replacement cos I know it will go t-ts up. If I get a replacement I'll be selling as new in the box and getting a Bushnell or a Redfield..What a piece of crap! Exactly the same as yours bang, bang, blur...paralax all gone to hell and no focus.
I only feel stupid now...but if I get another NCstar...I WILL BE STUPID

Thats my rant...Happy shootin :)

Junk, plain and simple. Anyone that has one that has not crapped out yet, is on borrowed time. Do you really want to rely on an ncstar while hunting? Even for a range gun, it'll ruin your day, wasted time and gas driving there to fire 3 shots.
