NcStar scope mount

Sorry to be harsh but it will be junk. You won't hold zero and you will waste a lot of coin on ammo. Want to keep irons get a ARMS 18 or Sadlak. Prepared to loose irons go with CASM by M14.ca

That's not harsh at all, I asked for opinions on it didnt I... Lol
I figured right after I ordered it the price had to be too good at $37 or what ever the cost.. Anyway good to know, I will keep my eye out for a better mount.. Not to interested in staying with the irons I have many more guns I love to shoot with irons..

Honestly, if you don't fancy keeping the irons then get the CASM from M14.CA - I've one on a Norc and it is awesome. I have another but I don't want to take the irons off my SAI NM

Sorry for all this questions this late in the night< but I really need to finish this rifle.
Which is the best material, steel or aluminum?

It is true that you get what you pay for, and its your money and your choice.

I have an Nc Star mount, and when I first got it the zero did wander, but that was entirely my fault.
After walking the Blue Loctite to it shes been fine.
Its a heavy steel mount that looks sorta cheap......but it does the job for me.

I tried one out, they work fine. I replaced the rear "thumb" screw with a cap head bolt to get rid of some of the bulk. Just make sure you set up the rear set lug properly. the NC star mount can correct for an out of spec receiver, that rear lug is whats used to do it.

If you unclear what i mean by "rear lug" if you unscrew the rear thumb screw completely, you find the piece that it screws into is actually a lug that screws in and out and has a set nut on it to stop it from moving. Just make sure that that piece is screwed in the correct distance to make contact with the receiver. If the mount is pointing "left" (relative to the receiver) screw it in; if the mount is pointing right screw it out a bit.
Once the left/right issues is resolved, crank on the set nut and lock tight that ##### down tight, you will never need to move it again on the same gun.

People harp on them, but these are actually decent mounts, they are just super bulky, a little heavy and a bit tricky to setup. but they let you use irons still, and if you have a out of spec receiver you can use the mount to correct for it instead of your scopes internal adjustment.
