NcStar Scopes

Pros - cheap
Cons - everything else.

Some guys have used them with some success. I've owned two, and they were both garbage. if you've never looked through a DECENT scope (Leupold VXIII or the like), you might think NCStar is 'great'. Once you realize what a scope should and could be, you'll discover pretty quick that it's cheap (IMHO) junk.

I would take ANY model of bushnell or tasco before I touch another NCStar. Resale value on these is zero.

i.denison,
SKS with 6x32 NC Star
After 50 rounds or so a lens came loose,
it would not maintain focus or hold zero.
Some have had good luck with them
some have not. Inexpensive scopes are
a toss up at best.

I have the 4x32 compacts with quick release, perfectly adequete for a 200m range, just got the 3-9 version for my Norc AR and would say it's a bit nicer than the 4x one.

If you decide to get one, Marstar would be an excellent place to buy it.
There is a long thread about a situation with another retailer; the warranty service may vary depending on where you buy it.
I don't own one. I have two friends who had bad experiences with them.

ok, i've got a 2.5 long eye relief and it works well- however, when talkingwith nc star techs yesterday , he said that it might come loose with 44 magnum heavy loads ( ie the wires might break) and to use the etched glass one instead- as far as the warranty goes, it is good ONLY IN THE USA, and then it's a lifetime- marstar also carries them with their ONE YEAR in house warranty- so you're good for a year PROVIDED you buy from marstar- i don't know about the other guys- as far as clarity , they're as good as anyone else- and i used to WORK FOR WILD/lietz in their OPTIKS/kamera/theodlite divisioN- but the warranty DOES NOT APPLY to canada-

I have an NCStar 10-40x on my Ruger 10/22. Under 22x it is very clear and works great. Above that the clarity is very poor yet good enough to spot .22 bullet holes in paper out to 200 yards. I would shoot a mag at 25 yards, adjust the elevation knob to shoot at 100 yards, fire a mag, return to 25 yard elevation and fire a mag. I repeated this 4 times and found the scope worked fine.

I would be reluctant to put this scope on anything but a rimfire (maybe a .223 at the most) but so far I am very happy with it.

I have a 4-12x NCstar. It's almost unusable above 10x, very blurry. It has adjustments for the illuminated reticle brightness, but they are useless: it's always a huge thick bright green line that cannot possibly be used to line up a target.

I got it for free, and I got what I paid for.

don't mean to hijack, but have any of you used the ncstar red dot optics? can anyone compare it to say Eotech?

The price difference is massive. I could understand the difference between a cheap scope and an expensive scope, but what about the red dots? why is a 500-800 lens with a red dot in the middle better than a $79.99 red dot?

i'm seriously looking into buying the Mark III Tactical Series Scopes I've seen some reviews and people found them to be ok. if you're not hunting with it, and it works fine up to 200 meters, and it doesn't cost you over 1000 and up to 3000 then why not? :)

Bought 3 once, lured in by the low price and "Lifetime Warrenty". The first one fell apart after firing one 30rd mag in a 10/22, the second came apart after one shot on the M305, adjustment turret fell right off. The dealer just gave me a total refund since on the 30 or so he had sold, 29 had already come back. The third is still plugging along on my CZ .17HMR. Although the focus seems less sharp after every use.

All in all, save your money and purchase quality once, instead of junk every year. Like I tell my wife, "I'm not rich enough to buy cheap junk over and over again."

absolute garbage, don't waste you're money.
:agree:
But then the truth hurts...
Real bad!
Just buy a Vortex and love the uncoditional warrenty it comes with along with great glass for the $$$. But don't believe me check out the reviews not just this site but on the net also.

They may be good for the money, just don't buy from this seller:
