I brought my brand new NCstar 60x spotting scope to the range the past weekend. After shooting a few rounds, I noticed it had been knocked off the table and was on the ground! Picking it up, I noticed the hinged front lens cover had broken off at the hinge
But was alarmed me was that the joint at the bend has also popped open! Looks like the bracket that held it together on the inside has broken off. The entire scope had no dents or scratches so I am sure it landed on the cover, not the joint. Pictures are below:

For a $115 scope, I would accept that their optics would not be as good as more expensive
brands. I would even ignore the broken front cover. But for the housing to be this flimsy I find unacceptable.
The dealer who sold it to me was very understanding and offered a replacement at a little over half the price. But he warned me the manufacturer will not entertain any request to have it replaced as it was dropped. Well I felt for an outdoor/hunting equipment, it should not have sustained this kind of damage so I asked him to take this up with them first. He agreed and I hope to hear back from him soon.
Am I expecting too much?
Do other NCstar optic owners have a similar experience?
