NDP support local power to prohibit firearms!

Does not surprise me - Socialists are big on disarming the populous.

and imprisoning or murdering those that oppose them. Hey that sounds like NDP Candidate Erica Kelly who endorsed the use of drone strikes on legal Canadian gun owners. Then instead of apologizing for her comments she doubled down on her hatred and confirmed her psychotic rantings were for the good of the children. Cant make this stuff up.

Is anybody going to form an all gun ban rally to prove our legal gun owner rights and make a big one?

Marxism requires state-sponsored mass murder, so obviously they need to disarm the victims. It isn't some weird theoretical thing, it is an absolute requirement.

We're the talkers.
We're like a bunch of old spinsters at a knitting bee.
We don't do, we talk, and talk and talk and talk and talk ad infinitum ... ;)
Tomorrow we'll get up, sh!t, shave and shower, boot up the computer and repeat the cycle again.

Civil disobedience is probably our best option seeing as we are not all welfare slobs or paid trolls like the Liberals have at their disposal. We need a unified voice that says we will not comply with involuntary disarmament. We need to be willing to take some heat from that Chinese communist loving pussy justin and his cabinet of goons who tolerate everything from ISIS in our country but who’s tolerance stops at legal peaceful gun owners.

I dont care what laws are passed. I will not comply

I don't think Singh will ever take a seat in the House of Commons as leader of the NDP.

He has been a total disaster as leader.

Morale is at rock bottom, his chief of staff just quit, and their fundraising is at record lows.

All that is bad for us. We need a strong NDP to take back their million plus votes that went Liberal in 2015

Even the CBC has published articles remarking that the panic about gun violence is overblown.
I think that this quote from the CBC explains everything concisely:

But 2013 does not represent any kind of Canadian norm. Choosing it as a baseline could be seen as an example of what statisticians call "selection bias."

"They obviously picked the one year where it was lowest, so as to maximize the impact, the one year to make the change look most drastic, essentially," said Pierre-Jérôme Bergeron, who teaches statistics at the Department of Mathematics and
Statistics at the University of Ottawa

The following was just sent to me, it speaks for itself!

Thank you for writing about the need to tackle gun crime in Canada.

New Democrats share your concern about the escalation of gun violence in our cities. Montreal and Toronto—two of our largest cities—are calling for the right to place a ban on the possession of handguns. The federal NDP has long supported giving this power to our cities.

We agree more needs to be done to keep guns from falling into the wrong hands—to make sure Canadians are protected from gun violence and our communities are kept safe. That’s why we support a consultation process on a federal handgun ban. It’s an opportunity to have a national conversation on gun crime in Canada, with a focus on the public’s safety—to hear from experts and the public, from urban and rural communities. It’s a chance to make sure we have the right measures in place, such as updating the regulations governing firearms to deal with technological changes like 3D printed guns.

What’s more, New Democrats know that a credible crime prevention strategy must include ways to reduce poverty, fight racism, break down the stigma associated with mental health, and address other social determinants of violence in our communities.

Canadians expect their government to take real action on fighting gun crime in Canada. I delivered this message to Prime Minister Trudeau, urging his government to do more—to develop long-term, effective solutions on the root causes of gun violence and collaborate with the communities directly affected. You can read my letter to the Prime Minister here.

And, direct action can happen now. We can give more power on gun control to our provinces and cities, provide funding for preventative, youth-focused programs, and allocate more resources to the Canada Border Services Agency to help stem the flow of illegal firearms crossing the U.S. border. Finally, our government can condemn all hate crimes and racist confrontations relating to misinformed reactions to gun violence.

Again, thanks for taking the time to share your views with me.

With love and courage,

Jagmeet Singh

I don't disagree with what the text I bolded. More money to border Services and police agencies to stem crime, better parenting to curb violence, and stronger sentencing for violent gun crimes. Easy peasy. Legal and responsible firearms owner left alone to be good citizens.

All any government needs to do is ensure there is adequate funding for schools, pensions LE/Mil and hospitals. Then deliver basic services as cost effectively as possible. Something the NDP wouldn't have a hope in hell of doing. When will they learn we don't need to be saved from ourselves, what we do need is to be saved from self serving politicians! On a side note the majority of gun violence seems to eminate from the drug trade Jagmeet, you might want to start there, the rest will follow.
