I know, I know. They who shall not be named.

And yet, they're still doing stuff.

The new release of the North Eastern Arms, 7.62x39 will be at the Grand Opening for the demo, and even better;

14.5' barrel 7.62x39 NEA AR withg a ten round pistol, and a .22lr upper and one mag together, for $1,349.99 there will only be four kits availible for purchase.

Did I just totally miss them swan diving into the 7.62 pool? Was there some sort of heads up from SFRC or one of the other site sponsors still with NEA?

Last I read they really only touched .223 and .300blk, with the promise of some crazy 9mm baby coming down the pipe.

Looks like this corrosion feasting beast is ready to go out the door?

Personally I always thought the rechambering North American black rifles was some elaborate Russian ruse to give us unreliable guns. I did not have good experiences with an early XCR in 7.62x39 and figured that calibre could stay in the Czech, Chinese, and Russian rifles.

As you know the biggist issue with 762x39 in a stright line platform like the AR is mags and more so mag angle, that said its only 1o rds so may not be that big of an Issue.
I've owned 3 762x39 AR15 sets ups over the years, the big issues have always been bolt head blowout.
As well as exstractor angle , this is the reason many have stayed away for it.
Many MFG,s just machined out the inside of a 556 bolt face and re angled the exstractor.
The bolt needs to be designed and made from the ground up not a mod job, as far as I know Colt was the only one to do this right.
The most I got out of my colt was aprox 3000rds before the bolt failed. Back then it was 90$ at 1.40 exchange to get a new onE :(
762x39 is still very cheap so I'm sure lots will be sold.

I'm with the op on this one.
NEA would be an iffy call even with an AR in its common and bug-free chambering. Throw in a cartridge that is usually corrosive (+Di gas system), straight mag well with tapered cartridge and therefore mag, and weakened bolt due to wider base of said cartridge, and I will definitely give this a pass.

I could see myself maybe digging an AR-ish design with a piston, and one that takes a curved mag (ideally an AK mag), but until I can afford a KAC SR-47 or something, no x39 ARs for moi.

Given our mag caps the straight mag well is a non-issue. 10 round XCR pistol mags work just fine in my 7.62x39 XCR.

I've read that these mags work well, too.

I could be interested in this but would be more inclined to purchase a first batch IF they made it able to use real AK mags.
Yes I know it isn't a 10 rounder but i have a locker full of AK mags and drums.

Aare NEA ARs not good guns?

I was getting pushed towards NEA not too long ago instead of Norinco for my first AR.

Well Norinco wasn't lying through their teeth and using multiple accounts on here to shill their products to make them sound super amazing when products at the time being produced were complete POS.

Based solely on those actions I'll never buy NEA, far as I'm concerned they'll say anything to make a dollar regardless if the product actually turns out well now.

Get a Norinco lower at a good price and you've got an awesome platform to start with at very minimal cost for a new AR builder.

I'd like to see them make their existing products better before jumping into a new venture platform. Fix the dimensional issues with receivers, better anodizing....black would be nice, better finish on metal parts like barrels and bcg then the patchy "ARC+"...like maybe just straight black nitride...

I was happy enough with mine, but these points definitely stick.

Can someone fill me in (via PM if necessary) about the NEA debacle? I was looking at some of their kit from SFRC to purchase

I'd be interested in hearing about that too.
