It seems like hard primers on surplus ammo are too much for these ARs to take. My brand new one is having constant soft strike issues. I contacted NEA and they suggested to bend the hammer spring to stiffen it. While this improved the issue, it did not completely correct it. When I told NEA about the results they just said "well that should have fixed it" with no other followup and troubleshooting suggestions. I read about their poor product and reputation but I still decided to give them a chance thinking that it was exaggerated. I'm starting to doubt that now.
So I guess it's up to me to get a brand new firearm functioning correctly. Aftermarket hammer spring or a longer firing pin? Any ideas on where to get them from? I'll also try filling down the sides of the firing pin tip to concentrate the impact point area. Any other suggestions?
