Hi guys

I am ready to give NEA one more chance it look like the gen 2 is much much better! that said i am still worried my first experience was a complete failure !

-My Question is Why they don't make the AR-15 in 7.62x 39 in 16 inch? do you guys think the accuracy will be a lot better on a 18 inch in that caliber?

Thank you

Buying an AR pattern rifle in x39 is just a gamble IMO. So many differing qualities of ammo that can get run through it, combined with manufacturing issues of bolt face size, poor feeding or hard to find magazines.

All of that and you want it to be an NEA too? Not worth the hassle.

AR-15 shooting 7.62x39 will be caked inside with carbon. They over-gas it to accommodate all kinds of ammo.

Also you'll have lots of fun with star chamber and q-tips.

P.S. Get CSA vz58. One of my favorite rifles to shoot. Capable of 2-3 MOA with surplus ammo.

Well if PWS will ever do a 16" AR batch in 7.62x39 again. Get that one. I tried 7" and talked to the owner. He got his from questar.

Adjustable piston, proper feed ramps for the round. Magazines are still problematic, you have to get lip adjustment tool and tweak your mags if needed.

My 7.5" version has soft strike issues all the time and NEA customer support is doing nothing about it. Basically expect to buy aftermarket spring and / or firing pin and don't expect much from the company itself in terms of backing their product.

My 14.5 NEA has been running flawlessly for 350 rounds of Chinese corrosive that I picked up from Cabelas on sale. $0.17 per round, and tons of fun. I did have 20 ftf with light primer strikes out of the box, but in fairness I'd also incorrectly installed the trigger tech trigger. My bro adjusted the trigger and it's been fine since. Gun was purchased from CanAm in December. He can shoot it slightly over 1moa @ 100yds. Me, not so much

If you're going to go 7.62x39, my advice would be to go with PSA. IRG often carries them at VERY good prices. I've got a little 7" that's run beautifully.

My TT trigger won't reliably ignite surplus. How did you install it incorrectly and then adjust it to get it to work?

I bought one in 16 inches and it shoots really well so far, the break in period had some FTE and Misfires, at first I thought it was a crap shoot but after I switched the NEA magazine and used the ACR's in 7.62x39 the thing runs awesome, you just need to clean it really well if you use corrosive. The gas tube has some rust already but it's a 15$ part you can replace. Plus every time it shoots it throws all the junk out of the gas tube so no complaints on my end.

My 14.5" NEA x39 is awesome! I got it from canadaammo just after Xmas. Using ACR coupled 10 rounders for ~300 rounds has been fantastic. A few light strikes with Czech ammo, Barnaul and Norinco run 100%. I can ding the 50 yd gong as fast as I can pull the trigger standing. Just put a brake on it, off to the range this weekend to try it out.
Love it!

I run a 7.5 NEA. The Carbine Buffer it came with didn't last. Bought it used so I didn't think much of it. Stepped it up to a H2 and added a flash suppressor as the flames were too much fuego for my taste. Runs like a champ when the Mags are not at full Capacity. Mags are the biggest issue. Bolt, extractor and Firing pin still running strong after 1600 rounds of my personal count. Only eats Barnaul and Norinco non corrosive steel. It destroyed the Bushnell TRS25 it came with. First the OEM mount went. Bought a new one. Then the Optic straight died. She gives a massive amount of concussion. Doesn't affect the shooter. Just by standers. I was hitting 8" gongs all day long with that 3MOA dot. Don't be afraid to try 7.62x39 in a shorter barrel. Bullet drop is crazy after 100 anyway. My 2 cents towards the bill.

I'm At around 5000 rounds of surplus(Russian,Czech and Chinese) and dominion 7.62x39 in my NEA.had zero issues with the dominion, some light strikes with the surplus(especially the Chinese) so I swapped out to a wolf spring and haven't had a single issue since.

As for cleaning I use fireclean on all my rifles and it really helps with the crappy corrosive.

I also had 2 PSA's.from the factory it was all light strikes(using surplus)again, wolf spring helped that.i did have an issue with the bolt on one of the PSA's,it sheared a lug,it was dealt with pretty quickly ,but I liked the 14.5" NEA a lot more, plus service from them was much better(not so much better, just easier being a Canadian company),and all my experiences with them in the past have been positive as well.
