Well, here goes. First impressions out of the packaging - it's quite nice. ARC+ Finish is kind if weird, but otherwise it looks well put together. Cycles dummy rounds with the charging handle no problems. I won't be able to get to the range for a few weeks, so more info to come. Anywho, enjoy the pictures. If you want more let me know.

EDIT: More pictures taken on post #16 & #17

Looks to me that neither has the gas keys staked correctly...NEA maybe a bit the better of the two

Meh. It's probably fine as long as it's tourqed properly.......but.....

You can buy a carrier key staking tool from Brownells that will stake it tighter than a bankers wallet. 70bucks well spent to keep local forum schleps from criticizing your work. Oh, and then there's the fact that it would be staked properly....

Does the staking tool also work for castle nuts?

Edit: just looked it up, quite the rig for the carrier, haha.

I ended up buying a new DPMS BCG from the EE recently for an SBR build. I noticed the same thing about the poor staking job, and was quite surprised. The seller told me he's run his for a while and never had any issues, and I believe him. I've put a few hundred rounds through mine and so far no issues.

Definitely not the quality of the Stag BCG that I have in my lefty build though. If I had found another new Stag BCG, I would have bought it instead.

I see nothing wrong with the NEA staking job. The DPMS doesn't look like the metal was displaced enough to stop the screws from backing out.

Is the DPMS a FA BCG? I just purchased a NEA FA BCG an I am surprised that there is that much difference in weight between the two. 14grams works out to almost half an OZ. I dont have a scale to weigh mine

Stacking looks alright on the NEA, although it could be a little better. The DPMS's looks kinda lousy.

Little surprised about the weight difference. A little googlefu would suggest thats about the difference between a F/A and S/A BCG. Any thoughts?
