I picked up an NEA Heavy Brake for my CZ858 last month. I put about 20 rounds through it the other day while pissing around and really liked it. noticably reduced muzzle flip.
I took the gun into the shop today to clean and decided to toss the muzzle brake into the ultrasonic cleaner with the rest of the action parts. Much to my dismay, some of the finish was removed. I noticed my striker, which I had parkerized years ago, was also showing signs of the finish being removed. I guess the degreaser and ultrasonic cleaner was a little better than I thought!
Now I have a new parkerizing job one of these days. NEA offered to replace the brake but I declined. Since the finish was already wrecked I tossed it into the lathe and shaved .007" off the back face so the brake locks up tight when the plunger indexes it. Now it doesn't wobble at all.
I'm going to toss some other parkerized items into the cleaner tomorrow and see if that is what stripped the finish. I'm also wondering if the parts sitting directly on the tray may have caused abrasion to remove the parkerizing.
