I just got a NEA CCS stock and I was wondering how people go about tightening the buffer tube? It has some grooves in the sides that will help with hand tightening, but is that all you can do? It didn't come with a wrench, and the instructions dont say much other then tighten in...I was under the impression there would be a wrench and a torque spec for this?

Did you use any type of thread sealer or anti sieze on it?

Also what did you do for a bolt/firing pin etc? I still need to buy that stuff

I just used a strap wrench to tighten, no loctite. Assuming you already have a complete Ar-15, just transfer the parts from your existing BCG to the modified one.

Starting from scratch, I still have to buy the parts required to complete the BCG

I could be mistaken, but the typical installation method when dealing with NEA is to quickly insert said NEA products into the the nearest trash receptacle you can find.

No need to thank me!

Alright screw it then anyone looking for a NEA CCS for like $200 BNIB. I just ordered the Troy kit, couldn't find it before but found it last night on IRG. If I understand correctly the Troy comes with a complete BCG? And has 6 positions where the NEA only has extended and closed position....

Also does anyone know if the Troy is an aluminum stock/pad? The Nea is plastic, in the pics it looks aluminum and I was expecting aluminum but I got plastic :(

^^^ Typically this is what usually happens with NEA.

Honestly the parts look pretty well made, well the billet parts anyways. The plastic I didn't like, and the staking on the gas key doesnt look the greatest, also the rubber stopper on the end of the buffer looks kinda home made...Also being really picky here but the anodize on it is also grey in color not black....Not the biggest deal but again when spending $300 I would really prefer black

Im sure the Troy will be nicer but its about double the price

Deagle has a troy one too after he gave up on his NEA, seems like a repeat story.

Wish I read that story first LOL Honestly I just couldn't fine one online in Canada, I tired searching on IRG site using key words "Troy" "PDW" "M7A1", and even when I searched the whole Troy manufactured parts list nothing came up.

I found it searching google, it lead me to a link on IRG site that I could not find on my own on their site, the site has alot on it but some stuff is hard to find unless you go through every Ar15 part they have on their site page by page. And I did do that

You are certain it is plastic? Where did you buy the NEA CCS from? Mine has no plastic on it whatsoever. Can any other CCS owners chime in and confirm theirs is plastic????

Mine is not plastic. And the 6-position stock is useless. The stock is too short to have multiple positions. That is the reason the NEA originally had a 6-position stock but later changed to just 2.

Positive and it was a real dissapointment because I was expecting all aluminum because in all the pictures I saw prior to ordering it looked all aluminum. I bought from the ammo source but here in this link from brownells you can see the exact same one as I got, where the stock pad is plastic, you can tell from the texture, moulding lines, and it's actually black where as the aluminum anodized parts are a greyish color

Most NEA stuff is grey, not black, from what I can tell. Maybe the design change was made to reduce the weight of the stock system... Lots of stocks are plastic after all.

My NEA CCS butt-plate is plastic. No big deal - as already noted, lots of butt-stocks are plastic. It is the type of plastic and the design (structural integrity) that counts. As for the multi-positions, unless you are running armour there is no requirement as the fully extended stock is pretty short as is. All of that to say that I'm pretty happy with my NEA stock for the price. It works as advertised and the Nitride finish on the stock struts has exceeded my expectations for wear. Just my $.02.

I never said I need aluminum or it should be aluminum. I just wanted and expected aluminum since from the pics I saw I thought it was all aluminum. I spent $600 on the barrel for this build and $800 for a billet upper and lower. Billet fore grip, billet hand guard rail, etc etc etc . So if you don't see the theme I'm going for its a billet aluminum build, or as much billet sluminum parts as I can get

The 6 positions I also did not say that I needed or wanted that, just listed it as a spec difference between the 2 that I noticed.

Either way I think I like the troy better, but I'll have to wait a few days for it to get here before I know for sure. If I like it better I'll keep it and sell the NEA for a loss. My loss someone else's gain

Coming with a complete bcg works for me
