I own a gen 1 upper hand guard from NEA for the vz58. The spring/ball bearing that holds the retaining pin in falls out and is easily lost. This caused my retaining pin to be lost during a shooting session.

I have tried to contact info@northeasternarms.com and support@northeasternarms.com on 3 separate occasions with no reply.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Dealers, or a secret email that works. I just want to know if there is another retaining pin I can purchase or if I need to look elsewhere for another solution.

Thanks,
Marshall

We didn't receive any emails.. this is a warranty issue for sure and we'll get you a replacement.

In the future; the set screw underneath the ball detent can work its way down over a period of time. Loctite should solve the issue.

shoot me an email to dave@northeasternarms.com and I'll get you taken care of.

On a related note and not to hi-jack the thread, but I recently purchased a co-witness set from TSC and when I got home and installed it I noticed that it didn't have the set screws with it, do you have to purchase them separately?

I have a Gen 1 as well and had that issues too. I was able to fix it with lock tight as posted above. It has been over a year now and it has not happened again. When you do get the replacement lock tight it and you will be good to go.

I set the tension I wanted on the set screw and lock tighted it. There is no reason to remove the set screw unless you are replacing the retaining pin.

It will only need to be done once.

This is the set screw you lock tight. Put in the ball then spring and set it to the desired tension and lock tight it. Thats it your done.
