NEA Compact Carbine Stock install - Range report up.

Thanks for the write up...now I don't have to do one (yep, installed mine today). For those looking for lightweight this isn't it...quite hefty...but honestly, I do like it. I picked it up to go with the shorty build I'm doing (still waiting on the barrel). All-in-all I'm happy with it.

NEA Compact Carbine Stock install and initial impression. pic heavy

Well, NEA barrels are fairly heavy, so maybe this stock will even them out from being front heavy.

Hey FastFord58,

Thanks for this and your earlier write ups on the NEA 7.5. I'm pulling the trigger (so to speak) on this exact setup, it will be my first 'black rifle'.

A Canadian made 7.5" rifle with a unique super short collapsible stock, what's not to like?

Thanks again for taking the time to post!

Thanks for sharing! That looks awesome especially with a short barrel AR. The only thing is that weird gray color that NEA uses. But can you dura-coat or paint it?

How much? This looks like a nice add on to my 9" .300BK Suppressed upper.

$329 via NEA website. Probably the same through dealers as well. Not sure how that compares to other aftermarket stock prices, this is the first major aftermarket piece I have bought.

Dead ###y. Thanks for the write up and pictures. Time for me go get going on my 14.5" build, maybe a CCS in is the future... my density? :D ha ha ha ha

Cheers,
Barney

f:P:2: Hahaha. Yup, I launched mine across the room when I bought my first Colt HBar 15-ish years ago And...I'm still looking for it! Laugh2

I think there is a nice collection of those springs on the moon. I'm confident that's where those f'ers land when they go flying!

Looks awesome, but the weight is a killer for me. I already have rotator cuff issues.:( All these new fangled quad rail foregrip fancy optic with flashlight fat barreled AR-15's seem to weigh a tonne already. Still, looks cool. I can't see cheek weld being nice though, correct me if I'm wrong!

Anyone willing to venture a guess what it is using for a recoil spring? Looks kinda like a standard carbine spring, possibly cut shorter?

Probably is...the button to adjust the stock appears to be a standard AR15 mag release button. More economical to use readily available parts...

When the Magpul UBR was all the rage nobody ever complained about what a heavy pig it is. I highly doubt this stock weighs anything close to the UBR yet there is all kinds of meuling about how heavy it is. Sack up boys, half a pound ain't gonna kill you and it is hardly worth the whining.

News flash boys, ya gotta give some to get some. This stock is the smallest most compact AR stock on the market. That means there will be some compromises. Obviously weight is one of them.

If it was under built and flimsy there'd be all kinds of complaining about that. Apparently you just can't please everyone.
