I'm in the process of packing up odds & sods for our move and found this little RDS on my shelf. It's a Old Bushnell Trophy 28mm RDS I had mounted on a pistol a while back. With a set of Weaver Extra-Low rings it sits nice and tight to the NEA rail giving a great cowitness, Same or slightly lower than the T1. It has just enough room to mount on the NEA rail. At ~$80 it's a cheap alternative to a cowitness sight for the 58/858.

I like the look of it.. it'll stay on for a couple months to see how it does. Pretty bad putting a T1 on the shelf for a Bushnell..

-UPDATE-

I put 500-600 rnds through this sight last night and it held up nice. From the sight line it has the same feel and profile as my T1. It has 11 brightness settings and on ~ 4-9 the dot is a crisp 2MOA.

The reason that I am not using my 2nd T1 is because my other T1 is one of the short run for the US military with the 2MOA dot, not the 4MOA version that made it to market. I prefer the 2MOA much more because I like doing some med-range shooting with my RDS. That sight has been parked on my Swiss Arms for shoots and because I'm too used to the dot, the 4MOA T1 hasn't felt right.

This little Cheap-o Bushnell has the same feel and look (from the sightline). It's taking the recoil, heat and abuse that I put my optics through. I'll keep it on my 858 now. It seems to be a odd match. And at the price, I'll order up another one for a backup.

Now when I mounted it I noticed that the brightness dial had a little "play" and the dot was slightly intermittent; probably the reason I took it off my pistol. I removed the battery, the threaded in lock nut and the dial switch and noticed that the circuit board had 3 loose screws. I added a dab of loctite and tightened them down. Since then it took 3x the recoil it was used to and after a 1/2 thou rounds shows no signs of play. This would be a semi-easy fix even in the field with just a micro Phillips and needle nose pliers (tools in my emerg kit anyways). Just something to look out for.

..I can't believe I just reviewed a Bushnell...

Looks good :)

Now where are you finding this Bushnell sight for $80...The ones I see are $90-120 and have a 6MOA Dot.

Someone had better come up with a way to mount a quad rail on the 858, which doesn't cost as much as the gun itself...that look IS killer. ;)

NEA rail on the way from Wolverine. :D

Apparently they don't make this model any longer. It's ~10 years old. It's the same sight as the trophy, just not a "trophy" model.

So the ones today all have 6moa dots, which may be a little big. but I see that there's a model out there that has a combination of reticles.

I saw someone else post a picture with the new Trophy 1X25 RDS...nice small compact unit, it looked good.

3 MOA dot...I'll try it. $180. :)

Are you positive you have a authentic 2MOA model T-1?

Yep, It was "lost in theater".. and I know the fella that lost it. He was a real big fan of this Busse knife I also happened to lose right around the same time. Funny how loss brings comrades together. ;)

Anyone still selling those 2MOA T1's?

No one is, and as far as I know no one ever has.

I have a nice collection of sights that don't exist or short-run demo/trial sights.
