I bought a hand guard from Canada ammo thinking it was a nice price only to find out the thing isn't made correctly. Turns out the barrel nut isn't lined up with the gas tube! Any way I insert the nut into the hand guard it can only come up that the notches for the tube come up on the sides and the notch is straight in the middle blocking the hole in the receiver. Has anyone ever seen this before? I figure there is no way NEA normally makes its railed hand guard like this unless they grind off the notch that blocks the tube.

Time the nut for the tube. When the nut is straight, only then put the handguard on. It will be rotated about 15-20 degrees. Twist until it is straight. It requires a little effort. You can try putting a quarter or some kind of shim in the slot to keep it a little wider if it is too hard.

Put the nut on, install the gas tube, slide the handguard over the nut with the tab on the port side....

......then twist it into place. It does not slide straight on.

It's a pain in the ass to twist on. I had to use a wrench on mine.

Put a quarter in the slot that the bolts go through and turn in the the bolt from the wrong side until it contacts the quarter. Tightening the bolt against the quarter will spread the slot enough to make it much easier to turn on.

Do not over-spread it.
