Thinking of building an AR. Looking at a NEA lower but don't know to much about them. They just as good as all the rest out there ? Also wondering how the complete bushmaster ARs are quality wise and if you have one how you like it ..

I would avoid NEA. You might get one without issues, but a lot of people have had issues. That's my opinion. Some will disagree.


I've never seen a bushmaster rifle have an issue.......but supposedly at one point in time, years ago, their QC slipped and there were issues?

Pretty much any other American name brand you should be ok with (maybe not Olympic).
 
I can't really comment on NEA lowers, but heard there was some issues. I would consider an Aero Industries lower and can be ordered from Saskatoon Gun Works. I have a Bushmaster AR and like it a lot. It is my first AR so I have nothing right now to compare it to, but has worked flawlessly. I would not be afraid to purchase a Bushmaster product, although there is others that will disagree. I would say it all depends on how much shooting you are planning to do with it, what you want to spend, what you like, etc.. I am building an AR using a Colt Canada IUR, Colt Canada BCG and with an Aero or LMT lower. Should have it ready by the end of summer.
 
I just built one with zero issues using spikes tac. lower parts. Mind you I haven't attached an upper and fired it as yet, because I decided to wait on the s&j upper. seems ok in my book.
 
i have an NEA lower with a daniel defense upper, and i hate my lower. i always have an issue getting the mags to seat. and before anybody tells me to try new mags i already have and nothing works, ive even swapped uppers with different mags. DO NOT BUY AN NEA LOWER. spend a bit more money and buy a better brand name.
 
NEA Lower

I bought one of the NEA Lowers site sponsor SRFC had on blow-out last year. Other than having to remove some anodizing from inside the reciever at the rear take-down area, it's been running like a champ with both my Mk18 built Upper and a 14.5" Mid Upper. The Mk18 is based around an Aero Upper and the 14.5" Middy a Vltor Upper. Both of those manufacturers are known to have tight machining tolerances, no issues mating either to the NEA Lower (read no wedge required). IMO it was a well spent $80 at the time of purchase.

In case your wondering, my main Lower is a Noveske Gen II
 
There is a design/manufacturing feature in these lowers that isn't an issue until something goes wrong. To make the machining easier to do, the magazine well has the remains of holes at each of the four corners. There is very little metal left in the sidewalls. In the event of a casehead failure, with gas being released, there is every probability that the receiver is going to fracture at these points. Of course, case failures of this nature are rare.....
 
I have an Nea lower and an Aero Presicion lower. I prefer the Aero for fit and finish over the Nea but they both have run flawless and I had no trouble building either.
 
I built an NEA lower with a Daniel Defense LPK and it functioned great other than being a little tight at the rear takedown pin, opening and closing it a few times has loosened it up nicely but it's still tight with very little to no play. I recently traded out the DD trigger for an ALG NiB enhanced single stage trigger and it went in perfectly as well and is functioning great.
Some have had problems with them but most have not. It sounds like the earlier generation NEA's had some problems, I haven't heard much about them lately other than the one batch of bolts that were breaking at the cam pin hole.
