I installed my Nea bolt stop yesterday. I needed to file a fair bit of material off the one end because it was hanging up inside the rifle, I have a feeling this was more to do with the receiver being out of spec than the NEA bolt stop. It is a nice little add on and makes for easy one handed mag changes. I would recomend that if you dont have one of these installed on your m-14 that you get one, its a great piece of kit
You may also want to get a new spring pin as the stock one didnt fair well after being removed.
Another great product from NEA

I bought the last one TSC had on the shelf. I ran into the same problem with fitment. Had it machined to the same spec as the original bolt stop, as it was oversized in relation to the original. Overall a great part, can't wait to get it out and play with it.

HOw is it people are saying it's a GREAT product yet you yourself have to FN modify it ... I don't see that as being GREAT?!?!?!

My reference to the 'greatness' is that once fitted and installed properly it works well, and does what it is advertised to do. Did I find that it was a direct fit, drop in part? No, but that doesn't change my opinion of the properly installed product and its usefullness. I don't find it unreasonable to have to properly fit a part in order to have it function properly, so i still consider it a great product.

We have sold a pile of these now and this is the first we are hearing of fitment issues. Can you guys email us at sales@northeasternarms.com with a pic or two of the area you have to file. We have two shop m14's that we had no issues with prior to release as well.
This maybe an issue like the VZ58's where we have to find a middle ground tolerance wise to make sure it truly is a drop in.

MattK I wasn't tryna be a jerk ... just if something is suppose to be drop in ... it should be! I'm sure they have some great products and are CDN which is good! ;)

I would be pissed if it happened on my gun and i own the company. Somebody in the shop would be catching a bolt release in the back of the head........ playfully tossed of course..........

We have another 50pcs coming back from final processing tomorrow and more will be going out to dealers Friday.

No worries Otokiak, didn't get that impression, it's all good. I don't really ever assume anything is drop-in, so that is why I wasn't bothered by it. Charles, I will get an email to you in the next few hours. Otokiak, keep an eye out in your shorty thread, as I will be posting a few new pics when my 14 goes into the M14 Doc CQB that is waiting for me at the post office.

*Charles, you should now have an email*

Keep in mind it's being installed in Chinese rifles that are not the most consistent in dimensions.

My NEA bolt release and mag release fit perfectly, but the side of the receiver was so far out of spec that there was no way an ARMS 18 was going to install straight and true. That mount is a "drop-in" part, too.

My NEA Tac bolt stop installed without a hitch. Now can we establish a pattern (2005, 2007, or 2009 series receiver?) to see if there are any clues to why the installation may have some hiccups? :D

Cheers,
Barney

The Last thing I'd expect to be out of spec in the equation is the chinese receivers. Import years would not matter either, as I've found that the one consistant thing with chinese rifles is the receiver dimensions.
I've only installed a few of these units, having also never received the order I placed at the beginning of the year. The installs were non problematic.

Mine is a 2007 reciever. I dont consider it a problem when a part needs some minor fitting work. Lots of the big dollar (ie multi million) equipment i work on for a living needs a little honing or filling to be just right.

Had tried installing mine in a 2009 Norc and it didn't fit well - it was out of square so required a s**tload more time to fit than what I was willing to spend and still didn't sit right when done so chucked it and installed a SEI one instead. It fit without a hassle and works like a charm!

I'm glad your install worked well tho! Need pix to see the prettiness :D

I just put one into my new unfired M305 from Marstar last week. Fit and functioned flawlessly. I'll be installing one into my older reciever this week.
