I like that idea, a match grade 26" bull barrel for precision work, then a skinny 18.5" for traipsing after coyotes.

If you were...I misunderstood.
I was thinking a complete knockoff of the swiss upper no AR compatibility(barrel,bolts,etc...) but use their already existing lower for swiss that uses AR15 mags only and ar style mag relaese. for about half the price of a swiss arms would be nice

Why don't they just build what the ACR should have been?
AR-15 barrel check,ar-15 trigger check, ar18 short stroke check, non-reciprocating charge handle check, lower that takes STANAG mags check, ambidextrous upper check.

I could do this if I had some of the basic design info for an AR-180B, and some of the critical connection points on a swiss lower. 3D modelling is kinda what I do. Unfortunately, I don't have either component to start the process.

Are you using parametric modelling or dumb solids?

Too many companies still use AutoCAD. It's kind-of sad, really...

I'm currently using MasterCAM for my cut programming, I'm starting to hate it. Looking at SolidCAM since it plugs right into Solidworks.

I like the UI, but Solidoworks' file structure annoys the hell out of me. Mates seem less finicky in Inventor, too.

I've no experience in CAM (yet), but I hear good things about CATIA in that regard.

i would never buy a AR 180 .. fuggly looking POS...dont care. non resticted or not..all i gotta say.
id like a nice DSA FAL sorta style. that we could get in to the country .
