Looks like a projectile may have struck the thing when firing or something.
Crazy.
But it's out of the box new apparently. Jesus. Bad QC to the max

It does, but there is no indication it was ever mounted on anything. It's bead blasted SS, no marks at all and it marks easy, no copper on the gouge, no carbon anywhere. The dent actually goes into the brake as well.... I'll try and get a pic up.

Here is the ridge running down the boreline on one side

Very odd indeed.
I had bad experiences personally with NEA parts and components when helping a buddy do a build. Shoddy materials used which broke apart with little to no force applied. Depending on what the part is supposed to be for it may not be an problem.
When it's a barrel nut that's supposed to be torqued to up to 80 ft pounds and the splines are popping off before you even reach 35 though......

That came from us and it's totally my fault. I had pulled it to go back to NEA and someone saw it and shipped it. It was never supposed to go out.

We'll be in touch shortly to sort it out.

My apologies,

Ryan

I hope NEA knows how lucky they are to have you retailing their products. You sure know how to right the ship when they #### the bed with something lol

Non-NEA defective product shipped by mistake = No big deal bro they will take care of ya. SFRC is the best in the biz you'll get your stuff right no worries, sh1t happens.

NEA defecetive product shipped by mistake = OMFG what a sh1t company, my #### nearly fell off, my kids could have been orphaned, my dog got cancer, my lawn is yellow all because of this sh1t company!

Enjoy your new brake bud.

How that left the shop is beyond me. I mean, I've seen poor QC where small errors slip through. That is a catastrophic error that should have been tossed in the scrap bin by the guy pulling it off the machine. Then it had to go through all the additional stages of deburring, bead blasting, and shipping. I can't possibly fathom how this got through so many hands.

That junk didn't just sneak out of a nea plant to hide at sfrc waiting to pounce.
I am glad we keep getting threads like these just to keep on confirming what junk this stuff is.
When something is producing 60,000 psi a few inches from my face, or my life might depend on it's reliability, quality is not a joke.

If you sleep with dogs you may get fleas.

If I may ask and I am sure many others are quite curious..........what is the DUD rate on products you receive from NEA?

How do you know it wasn't used by a customer and returned? Do you think NEA test fires all of their muzzle devices?

Are you being serious? So NEA should be off the hook because a previous customer may have returned it and they were too incompetent inspect the item at the time of return?

good on you for owning up to the mistake of shipping it, but that still doesn't take NEA off the hook for getting it to you, the retailer, in the first place. Issues happen with QC with every company from time-to-time. however many of this QC issues are cosmetic in nature and are rare. This however is ANOTHER documented incident of complete incompetence with their QC department (if they even have one!). I'm never a fan of bashing a company just to be part of the cool kids, but I have never personally seen a firearms-related company have so many QC problems in my life.

Honestly, this has to be a return? And got mixed in with the outgoing products? I've never owned NEA but I read the threads.. this just seems over the top.

Look at the finish in the pictures and the damage to the muzzel brake. This is 100% a manufacturing defect that got past their QC.

Looks like some tool shot the thing loose and got a baffle strike when it flew off the gun... But what do I know, not like I owned black rifles for years and just ordered my 4th NEA rifle (2nd with Ryan btw.) And have always been satisfied.
