Too bad they keep letting crap like this slip through, I think it's really going to hurt their sales of the new 102 if it ever gets approved NR. I'm actually surprised they're still in business, I've owned a few of their AR parts and so far been lucky but I'd really have to think about it before spending money on their stuff again.

We sell close to $100k a month in NEA firearms and parts a month to dealers and retail customers. If there were still major issues you'd be seeing it on here. Did that brake slip thru yes, but it was a known issue that got shipped by mistake.

That might be true.... But I've avoided the brand since day one just because of all the crap I've seen/heard

McDonalds does over $2 billion in sales every month. That doesn't mean they offer a quality product.

People buy a price, not a product.

Sadly that seems to be the case these days.
Hell, I even fall for it from time to time like with this brake. This is the only picture of it anywhere I could find online...$79, looks like a poor man's version of the PA brake I posted above which is $179. Now that I actually was able to get hands on, it doesn't look like it would be very effective. All the baffles should be reamed out 40thou or so above the bullet diameter, only the front baffle is this size, the rest are reamed 5/8" I guess to facilitate manufacturing? Anyway that will affect accuracy as well as effectiveness of the brake in reducing recoil, and that's just the design issues, not even taking into account the mess of tool marks on the inside of the brake. Supplied with a crush washer which I also don't think is going to help matters, should be shim washers to keep everything straight.

I realize that when you factor in the failure/problem rate compared to the numbers sold it would be a very small percentage but it just seems to be a weekly thing on here to see or hear about another NEA issue.
As I said, I've used NEA parts in a couple builds and still have an AR built with an NEA upper/lower and have never had any problems but when there just always seems to be another bad report every week or two it makes a guy think twice before spending more money. I'm hoping the 102 gets it's NR status approved soon so we can see them start to hit the market and get some reviews, I just bought a MH a couple months ago so I'm not really in the market for a larger semi auto but for the projected price and if the reviews are good I may just have to try one out anyway.

Personally have never had any issues with NEA and will continue to purchase them.

Hope your luck holds out, personally I like to learn from other peoples experiences, I take everything on the internet with a grain of salt but with the continual reports of issues it makes me look for other options from companies with a better track record. A good price is nice but not if you need to deal with their warranty center before you get what you thought you were buying the first time.

It does, but there is no indication it was ever mounted on anything. It's bead blasted SS, no marks at all and it marks easy, no copper on the gouge, no carbon anywhere. The dent actually goes into the brake as well.... I'll try and get a pic up.

Here is the ridge running down the boreline on one side

The milling lines show that the milling cutter is not vertical to it axis.

Looks like some tool shot the thing loose and got a baffle strike when it flew off the gun... But what do I know, not like I owned black rifles for years and just ordered my 4th NEA rifle (2nd with Ryan btw.) And have always been satisfied.

I would agree. Look at the images. Anyone who says that this is a production tooling problem hasn't machined anything, ever. Lots of opinions, little expertise.

There are at least 3 known machinists that have commented on this thread.
The owner of SFRC stated it came to them directly from NEA like that.

This is some grand master fanboy #### right here to ignore that...or an NEA shill.

The fact that this got through milling, sandblasting, final inspection AND packaging is beyond me. Four points of failure of people either not giving a #### or not paying attention. NEA should be ashamed that this got through.
