NEA upper reciever build question

My NEA hand guard arrived on Friday and getting around to putting it together today. However, I can't find much in the way of instructions for this build. The front rail came with a barrel nut that looks nothing like the one I've seen in youtube videos. They all seem to have a collar that the gastube goes through into the upper receiver. Am I missing a part or is the barrel nut that comes with it all I need? Looks as though the rear portion of the rail cinches down onto the barrel nut via a couple of allen key type screws?

Ok, think I have that figured out now. Next issue I'm having is when I get the barrel nut cinched down so that the front rail aligns correctly with the rest of the rail on the upper receiver, the "spines" on the barrel nut are in the way of the gas tube?

I'm sorry, either I'm not understanding your properly or I'm not explaining it well. Maybe someone who's built and NEA knows what I mean?

The front rail does't screw onto the barrel nut like others I've seen. It has rasied "teeth" on the front of it that matches up with groves in the front rail. It seems to just slip on and then the rail tightens down on the barrel nut with 2 screws. So if I turn the barrel nut anymore, the picatinny rail on the front rail no longer matches up with the picatinny rail on the upper reciever.

IIRC, you slip the handguard on and then turn it to lock it in place (that is what Steveo means when he says to "twist it into place"). So you slide it on and it is not in line with the upper but when you twist it, it locks up and lines up. If I'm not making sense, a quick call to Ryan at SFRC would sort this out for you I'm sure.

No, you're not getting it. I've taken the handguard off my NEA rifles a number of times so I know what I'm talking about.

The NEA handguard, like many other FF designs, uses the OEM barrel nut. Install your barrel, tighten the nut properly, and install the gas tube. You then slide the handguard over the barrel. Slide it over the barrel nut slightly canted. When it's up against the receiver, you twist it so the "teeth" on the barrel nut engage a groove inside the handguard. Then you tighten the bolts at the rear of the handguard to lock it in place.

Bam! That's what I was missing. Now I'm picking up what your laying down. Sorry for the confusion on my part.

Stevo has it right. Install and tighten up that barrel nut (my new model, bottom dead center pinch bolt/screws has a proprietary NEA barrel nut according to Ryan at SFRC who sold it to me).

I've had good fortune with this recent build (Sept 2013). Here's a pic of my upper being run at a CQB Match on Langermark Range, Base Borden, with the ORA:

Welcome to the quad rail AR addiction!

Cheers and keep helping the nooobs!
