NEA102 / BCL102 Teardown (Warning Picture Heavy)

Beautiful Rifle....but um....how is this NOT an AR variant? Am I missing something???

The design of this one is based on the AR 102 that predates the one that was classified restricted so can have the non restricted status, thus why it isn't being offered in .223 But why ask why? Do you want the RCMP to classify it restricted?

The AR15 is named restricted just by name, not by function or features. AR15 came after this design lineage. It's simple. An AR15 with an 18.5inch barrel should be non restricted as well going strictly by features.

Looks like Rainier makes a adjustable gas block in .875, any guesses to compatibility? I'm new to the AR stuff and have a rifle on order from the second batch.

This is what the nut, forend nut and barrel look like disassembled. The barrel nut itself requires a 1 3/8 wrench to remove.

Just got my 102 in the mail today. Dust cover open and won't stay closed. Spring is not in the way. Just too much material for it to catch. Anyone else run into this?

Can you post some pics or have some pics I can post for you if you don't know how to post pictures?

Awesome, looks like it worked ;)

Now we just need you to compare that barrel extension to an AR-10 barrel extension :p

Not me. I would make sure before breaking out my file.

Will it close if you use a tool of some kind to start depressing the door detent a little before pushing it closed? It looks to me like the detent may be sticking out far enough that it is past the camming portion of the detent.

It closes flush. Just won't stay shut no matter how I manipulate it. Waiting to hear back from Ryan
